Apple-Q Training

Meetings currently being held on-line:

Due to the ongoing problems with finding a normal venue we are currently holding our meetings on-line via our Apple-Q Meetings Server. If you have or know or a place that we can meet please let us know.

These are currently being held on the 3rd and 4th Sunday’s of the month (except December) between 1:00 pm and 2:50 pm (assembling at 12:50 pm).

Apple-Q runs two types of training events each month (except December) – mini-seminars on the regular meeting day and training day seminars a week later.

Mini-seminars on Physical Meeting Days (Not currently running)

We normally run mini-seminars at the regular monthly meeting ranging from a few minutes on a useful tip or app to the main presentation of the day (between 15 and 45 minutes in duration).

These seminars are free for members and first-time visitors.

The details of these seminars are normally published on this site in the weeks leading up to the meeting. They are also emailed to members in the days before the meeting and listed in the monthly Apple-Bug Magazine.

Training Day Seminars

Apple-Q generally runs these training seminars on the fourth Sunday of the month. The topics are chosen by out members and are run if we have an organiser (fellow member with knowledge in that area).

These seminars may cover a range of topics, such as:

  • an introduction to Apple Devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone, etc);
  • Operating System basics (macOS, iPadOS, iOS);
  • useful apps (photos, movies, web, genealogy, office, etc;
  • How To – Hands on activities including our Apple-Q HowTo Tutorials;
  • Open Source & Freeware apps & utilities (installation & how to use);
  • Help Sessions (bring along you (Apple) problems and we will try to solve them);
  • and much more

Topics for upcoming training seminars are discussed at the regular monthly meetings. They are then posted here sometime during the week following the main meeting. Members will receive an email with the Event listed on our online Meetings Server (Discord) – and also posted in the Announcements text channel.

Further Details (for Physical Meetings – not currently running) – See the online Training details above.

These Training sessions are only available to Apple-Q & Be Connected* Members or first time attendees.
*Be Connected members that are registered with us may attend for the first hour of each training session free of charge.

Training will only proceed if there is sufficient interest shown in a topic. If three or more members have registered for a session at the monthly meeting, the training can go ahead.

The committee and members might agree to hold a training seminar on another day or cancel it altogether (typically due to public holiday clashes).
