Apple-Bug- Apple Studio Display 2022-03

When Apple announced its new Studio Mac it also introduced the Apple Studio Display to go with it. However at the same time it withdrew the 27” iMac from sale.

The Studio Display has a 27” 5K Retina display, 3 microphone array (with directional beam-forming), six speaker cinematic sound, 12MP Ultra Wide camera that supports Centre Stage (it tracks motion and people), six speaker Spacial Audio all powered by the same A13 Bionic chip that is in the iPad and iPhone 11.

Apple-Bug- New iPad Air 5 with M1 2022-03

The new iPad Air has had a makeover that is not very obvious at first glance. Externally it looks very similar to its predecessor but inside it has had a major processor upgrade, improved camera, and wireless connectivity boost.

It now joins its Pro cousin it sporting an 8 core M1 chip which give it a 60% speed boost as well a 100% graphics power boost - rather impressive.

It now has a 12MP Ultra-wide back camera which, due to the new M1 chips graphics processing power (ISP), now has stunning new capabilities including 4K videos and Smart HDR.

The new wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and 5G mobile allowing for fast video streaming at home or away.

Apple-Bug: Apple-Q Main Web Site (Draft 2) (2022-03)

The Apple-Q’s Main Web Site appears to have finally died completely. This has spurred me on to generate a new site. I have had a Draft version up on one of my web sites (myharvey.net) however it had some technical problems that were difficult to fix and required a third party site to assist with the login.

So when the old main site finally died I had another go and did a major re-write that removed the third party login problem. It is up and running (well - sort of) but there is yet another problem that I have not been able to fix. I had hoped to have it ready to reveal in this issue of the Apple-Bug - but that was not to be.

Apple-Bug: New Apple-Q Meetings Server (2022-02)

For a long time now I have been looking into a way for us to meet on-line. There are a lot of Meeting Servers (eg Zoom) and group Video/Audio Call apps (eg FaceTime, NextCloud Talk) however each one that I looked had unacceptable limitations (like hardware requirements, duration of sessions, number of participants, cost, etc).

I had been using a Group Chat Server called Discord for several years with my on-line gaming group but never really considered it would be good for what we require. I was once again searching through various options on the web when I found that several social groups were using it for their meetings.

When I started to look into it I found that you could have an unlimited amount of voice participants for an unlimited duration and that it was totally free! The only limitation of the free version is a limit of 25 video participants. Furthermore it was something that I had used a lot and was familiar with. I had never set up a server or manage one but how hard could that be?

I already had the Discord app installed on my Mac so I just created an Apple-Q President account, clicked on a plus sign and typed in a few details and the Apple-Q Meetings Server was born.

Apple-Bug- HowTo Create & Use Linked PDF Files (2021-03)

There are times when we may wish to have access to information while on the move, and not necessarily within internet access. To solve this problem information may be saved as Portable Document Format (PDF) and stored on your mobile device to access while off-line. There are web plug-ins and apps that let you convert web pages and other documents to PDF.
However web sites are very useful in linking pages of information together so that you can organise several sources of information into a series on linked pages.
You can also do this with PDF files and you can create these links with most good Word Processing apps like LibreOffice.

Apple-Bug- Tinnitus Apps (2020-05)

Whilst sitting about at hearing related appointments with my husband I perused some of the literature to fill time and amongst the leaflets was the subject of tinnitus.
Tinnitus is described as the perception of sound when no corresponding external sound is present. Some people may describe the sounds ringing, clicking, buzzing, hiss, or roaring. It can be soft or loud, low or high pitched and appear to be coming from one or both ears. It can sound like music or singing but that's quite rare.
