Apple-Bug - 2026-07 (July)

Description

Apple had earlier scrapped several high end versions of its products citing that the high price of RAM (memory) had made these products unviable. Now it has gone a step further and dramatically raised the prices of many of its products that contain RAM by between 6 and 54% averaging about 20%. AI data centres have created a huge demand for memory with companies competing for the greatly diminishing supplies. This shortage is expected to continue through 2027.
There are many interesting stories in Jude’s Findings like Apple (mostly) skipping the M6 processor and going straight to M7 (once again due to AI processor requirements). The problem is that the top processor in this series can use up to 1,500 GB (1.5 TB) - at today’s RAM prices you could probably buy a luxury car for less.
In other articles, Wi-Fi 8 is on its way and is proving to be as great a technological breakthrough as Wi-Fi 7. Apple’s Smart HomeHub may be on its way and I have written a HowTo tutorial on Alternate DNS Servers and why you should use them.
There are also some great video tutorials from MacMost. Our Secretary also contributed some items to Jude’s Findings.
